I was inspired to do this piece of two things, their comment in the contest page, and I quote.
THE MYTHOLOGY DRAGON! Dragons (lat. draco, greek. drákon Snake ) are called serpentine, usually winged hybrid beings that are described in mythology and fairy tales. In Eastern and Western creation myths the dragon is a symbol of chaos, a god and misanthropic ogre who is holding back the water and the fruitful and threatens to devour the sun and moon. This guy obviously did more than threaten, he's succeeding. And yes, that IS a sun going down his gullet, even if I cannot draw a sun very well...Its a sun.
The second of my inspirations was of SilentDeath himself, seriously go check out his gallery. If he's not one of the BEST pencil/graphite artists out there, then you can call me a monkey's uncle. Seriously.
I, meanwhile, am not as good with graphite as SilentDeath, but hell, I thought I'd give it a shot, and this is the end result. Actually I'm really happy with how this guy turned out, tried some new techniques on shading (Q-tips are your friend, I learned) and actually cracked out some, meaning one, actual drawing pencils. A 2B I think it was, helped me get some softer graphite on the paper (it's totally gonna smear on the opposite page of my sketchbook, I can see that coming a mile away) and some really nice darker shades, which I tried to use only in a few places. I think where I put them, near the eye and between the scales and folds in the wings, really worked well, wouldn't you agree?
Anywho, for the technicalities, because they make me feel better, even if thieves don't listen to them. Art is copyright to ME DO NOT ALTER/TRACE/REPRODUCE IN ANY SHAPE WAY OR FORM!
Hello ^^ Just letting you know that I've used the title of your work in a piece of found poetry for #TheTitlePage. In my author's notes I have provided a link back to your deviation.
If you want to see the finished poem, it's here: [link] .
